Sunny and seasonal St. Patrick’s Day in Metro Detroit, when to expect rain/snow mix

Decreasing clouds and cooler air in the wake of a cold front.

DETROIT – Brrr! It’s a chilly start to this St. Patrick’s Day with temperatures anywhere from 20 to 30 degrees cooler than yesterday morning. No “green” on radar. We will be dry today with seasonable temperatures peaking in the mid-40s. Clouds will give way to sunshine through the day.

Warm-up

We warm-up significantly Tuesday and Wednesday with highs in the 60s.

Rain/Snow

The next chance for rain starts late Wednesday through the overnight into Thursday morning. As temperatures fall below freezing late Thursday, there is the potential for a changeover to snow on Thursday evening. Thursday also marks the vernal equinox, so that means we will start Spring with a possible rain/snow mix. Gusty winds are probable Wednesday and Thursday.

This Weekend

Temperatures will mainly be around 50 this weekend with a slight chance of rain Saturday and more sunshine on Sunday.
