March Madness: Wintery mix to arrive in Metro Detroit on first day of spring -- what to know

More ups and downs with 60s returning

DETROIT – Waking up to a milder morning as temperatures are starting off above freezing. This kickstarts a warming trend today and Wednesday with highs generally in the low-mid 60s.

Rain/Snow

The next chance for rain starts late Wednesday through the overnight into Thursday morning. A few storms are possible Wednesday evening and early Wednesday night which could produce strong wind gusts. As temperatures fall below freezing late Thursday, there is the potential for a changeover to snow on Thursday evening. Thursday also marks the vernal equinox, so that means we will start Spring with a possible wintry mix. Gusty winds in excess of 30 mph are probable Wednesday and Thursday.

Weekend

Temperatures will mainly be around 50 this weekend with a slight chance of rain Saturday.
