Metro Detroit temperatures to drop again after warm, active weekend

Rain, winds, storms and even snow are all possible over the coming days.

An active weather pattern is set to move into southeast Michigan this weekend and early next week. It looks to bring us rain, gusty winds, a few rumbles of thunder, and even a few snowflakes.

Things start off Friday with a few scattered showers. This won’t be an all-day wash-out type event, but keep the umbrellas with you as we’ll have a few showers during the day. We’re leaning on this being more of a dayside type event, but there could be a few showers in the morning as well.

Rain chances continue into Saturday, with chances looking best later in the day. Like Friday, Saturday won’t be an all-day rain event, but there will be a few showers out there.

The better chance for widespread and impactful precipitation comes Sunday as we’re expecting widespread rain, and it could be heavy. There may even be a few storms as well. That being said there severe threat Sunday looks better to our south.

Monday more rain is expected, but as temperatures fall the second half of the day, this rain should change over to snow and end around midnight.

Through this active stretch of days, we’re expecting around an inch of rain, though some spots could see a touch more. On top of the rain, it’s going to be getting pretty windy around here as well. Gusts Friday through Sunday could be over 25mph, but Monday they’ll be upwards of 40mph.

The temperature trend is another big story as we’re going to be well above normal, then tumble early next week. Highs to end the week are in the 60s, maybe even touching 70. But by Monday and Tuesday highs are back in the 40s.

The middle of next week features another system that looks to bring us more rain later Wednesday into Thursday.
