DETROIT – Waking up to a wintry mix and Winter Weather Advisory until 10AM for folks in Sanilac county. The rest of Southeast Michigan will be bracing for wet weather.
A Flood Watch is in effect for portions of Southeast Michigan including Metro Detroit 8PM tonight until 8AM Thursday.
1 to 2 inches of rainfall is expected as several rounds of heavy showers and thunderstorms move through the area.
Check your basements/sump pumps this evening and tonight! There is an Enhanced Risk for severe weather over Southeast Michigan today into this evening.
Damaging wind and heavy rainfall will be the main threats along with a risk of tornadoes.
The Timeline/Threats
- EARLY AM: A wintry mix is likely north of I-69. 10AM-2PM: Heavy, steady rainfall. Slight chance for a severe storm to develop due to a lifting warm front.
- 2PM-8PM: Scattered showers. Temperatures continue to rise.
- 5PM-Midnight: Line of strong to severe storms likely with approaching cold front. The threat heightens after sunset. Here are the threats:
- Damaging Wind Gusts of 70 mph possible.
- Isolated Tornadoes possible.
- Large hail up to an inch in diameter possible.
- Flooding possible with an overall of 1-2 inches of rainfall forecasted through Thursday morning.
