Umbrella Weather: Soggy end to weekend in Metro Detroit

Mild, wet weather to begin new week in Southeast Michigan

A splendid, sunny Saturday will transition into a soggy Sunday with sporadic showers.

Saturday brought the return of sunshine and seasonable weather. Under increasing clouds, nighttime temperatures will fall to the mid-30s in most of Metro Detroit. It will be slightly milder, with lows in the upper-30s, in Detroit, Warren, and Downriver. Some communities of the Thumb will see temperatures in the lower-30s. Winds will be light and variable.

Sunday

The rain showers will arrive from the west and approach the US-23 corridor around 5 a.m. Sunday. Scattered showers will give Metro Detroit the chance of light rain throughout the day. A break in the rain is possible from late morning through early afternoon, but more rain showers will be possible in the late afternoon and evening hours. Highs will be in the mid-50s. Southerly winds will be 5 to 10 mph.

Sunday night will be mostly cloudy with the chance of a few rain showers. Lows will be in the mid-40s.

Monday

Plan for more spotty rain showers on Monday morning and afternoon as a cold front sweeps across the Great Lakes. Following a mild start to the day with morning temperatures in the 50s, highs will reach the mid-60s in the afternoon.

It will be partly cloudy on Monday night, with lows in the upper-30s to 40 degrees.

Tuesday

A mostly cloudy and breezy Tuesday will only see highs in the upper-40s to 50 degrees. Under partly cloudy skies, nighttime temperatures will fall to the lower-30s.

Wednesday and Thursday

Expect a mixture of sunshine and clouds on Wednesday and Thursday, with highs in the mid- to upper-50s. Lows will be in the lower-30s on Wednesday night and lower-40s on Thursday night.

The chance of rain will return late next week. Metro Detroit will get another multi-day chance of showers beginning Thursday night and through the weekend.
