Warm, windy weather hits Metro Detroit, showers overnight

Friday highs in upper 70s; Saturday highs in upper 60s

4Warn Weather – Showers with possible embedded thunderstorms this morning are mainly north of M-59. We will spend the majority of the daylight hours dry and well above average. Warm and windy with highs in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees. Southerly wind gusts of 30-40 mph are expected in the afternoon.

The Storm Prediction Center has reduced our severe risk tonight to a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms across Southeast Michigan. Showers and storms arrive mainly between 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. as a slow-moving cold front crosses. We can`t completely rule out a strong storm with damaging winds or hail, but chances are looking less likely for them to reach severe limits. Shower chances end by Saturday morning as the front finally departs.

Holiday Weekend

A lingering shower is possible, early Saturday, especially before daybreak. Otherwise, we dry out with highs in the 60s. We stay dry for services on Easter Sunday morning. As another warm front approaches, we could see a few rain showers develop Sunday afternoon with a better chance of widespread rain into Monday. Highs on Sunday will be in the 50s.

Next Week

The long-range outlook has temperatures trending above average through the end of the month. Plan for 60s and 70s to return early next week.
