Here’s when to expect heavy rainfall, potentially severe weather in Metro Detroit on Wednesday

Flash flooding, isolated tornadoes are possible

Potentially severe weather is expected in Southeast Michigan on Wednesday.

Wednesday- Severe weather possible

From 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2, a wintry mix is likely. There will be a better chance of snow sticking in areas north of I-69.

Then from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., heavy rainfall is possible in Metro Detroit due to a lifting warm front.

After that, there is a chance for thunderstorms across the region, with severe weather expected from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Wednesday.

There is an Enhanced Risk (Level 3/5) of severe weather for the heart of Metro Detroit, and a Slight Risk (Level 2/4) of flash flooding.

During the severe weather, there is a chance for isolated tornadoes, wind gusts of up to 70 mph, and large hail up to an inch in diameter.

One to two inches of rain is expected with the flash flooding risk.

Forecast for rest of week

On Thursday, April 3, temperatures are expected to be in the 60s. Rain early in the day will give way to partly sunny skies.

On Friday, April 4, partly cloudy skies and highs in the 50s are expected. Baseball fans will see dry conditions for Detroit Tigers’ Opening Day.

Over the weekend, a chance for rain showers returns, and highs will be in the seasonal 50s.
