Cool, breezy temperatures expected this weekend in Metro Detroit

Saturday highs in upper 40s; Sunday highs in upper 50s

4Warn Weather – A calm, cool weekend is in store.

Friday will end with skies ranging from partly cloudy to mostly clear. That lack of cloud cover will support cooling overnight as temperatures tumble into the mid 30s to 40 degrees. Westerly winds will be 10 to 15 mph with a few gusts up to 25 mph.

Saturday

It will be noticeably cooler and breezy on Saturday. Under a mix of sun and clouds, temperatures will only peak around 50 degrees. A few sprinkles cannot be ruled out, but most areas will stay dry. The better chance of a stray shower will be over the Thumb. Westerly winds will be 8 to 16 mph with gusts near 30 mph during the day. At night, chilly air will push lows into the lower to mid 30s.

Sunday

A high-pressure system will continue to influence our weather and allow for abundant sunshine on Sunday. The breezy conditions will also continue with westerly winds of 5 to 15 mph. Gusts will be around 20 mph. Temperatures will be in the mid to 60 degrees. With mostly clear skies, lows will be in the lower to mid 30s.

Chance of patchy frost

Patchy frost on Saturday and Sunday nights may require tender or sensitive plants to be covered in traditionally cooler places, such as the Thumb.

The workweek will have a few bumps in the road with up and down temperatures.

Monday

Monday will be mostly sunny with highs near 60 degrees. Lows will be in the mid 40s.

Tuesday

A low-pressure system will move into the Great Lakes region and bring wet and breezy weather for Tuesday. Highs will be around 60 degrees and lows will fall to the upper 30s.

Wednesday

The rain will clear out for Wednesday as more visitors start flowing into the region. It will be partly cloudy with highs in the upper 40s to lower 50s and lows in the lower to mid 30s.

Thursday through weekend

The NFL Draft, which is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of people, will kickoff on Thursday in Downtown Detroit. The forecast puts high temperatures in the lower to mid 50s for Thursday and milder weather for next Friday through Sunday.

The 30-year average high for this weekend in Metro Detroit is 61 degrees, while the average low is 41 degrees.
