Colder temperatures and snow showers will arrive in Southeast Michigan this week.

The National Weather Service says light snow will make its way across the region in the afternoon on Wednesday, Dec. 4, and into Thursday morning.

Snow accumulations are expected to be around an inch, with totals forecasted to be around two inches in the Irish Hills and Thumb areas.

Highs will be in the mid-30s, but winds will be at 15-20 mph and make it feel like the mid-20s.

After that, the weather service says cold arctic air will move through Southeast Michigan on Thursday and Friday, bringing overnight wind chills to the single digits.

Lake effect snow showers are also possible on Thursday.
