Two waves of snow are heading for Metro Detroit this week.

Here’s a timeline of when the snow will make its way across the region and how much you can expect to see.

Thursday - First round of snow

The first wave of snow is expected to move through Metro Detroit from 2 p.m. through 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19.

This snow will be a light dusting and mainly in the communities north of I-96.

Friday - Bigger wave of snow

The second, and bigger wave of snow is expected in Metro Detroit on starting at 6 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 20.

The heaviest snow will be out by midday, but flurries will continue into the afternoon.

Weekend Forecast for Metro Detroit

After the snow on Thursday and Friday, temperatures highs will be in the 20s with single digit wind chills throughout the weekend.
