DETROIT – A significant wintry mix is heading to Metro Detroit this weekend, but will it bring up to 4 inches of snow or mostly rain?
As of right now, it appears the wintry mix will arrive Saturday morning and bring about 1-3 inches of snow.
The amount of rain will greatly affect snowfall totals. If this storm is mostly wet snow, it’s possible parts of Southeast Michigan could receive upward of 4 inches of snow.
The 4Warn Weather team is still waiting on some of the high-resolution weather data to come in, and then the picture will become more clear.
Saturday’s wintry mix follows a seasonal Friday after several rounds of snowfall throughout the week.
Then, as we head into next week, temperatures will plummet into dangerous territory. An Arctic outbreak begins Sunday night into Monday, and temperatures could drop as low as 20-30 degrees below zero from Monday into Tuesday morning.
