Most of the region has seen some sort of winter weather overnight Wednesday night into early on Thursday morning. The highest amount of freezing rain have been down in our southern counties, south of I-94. We will keep the chance of some freezing rain into the forecast early this morning through the morning commute before we dry things out for the rest of the day. High temperatures heading for the upper 30s by Thursday afternoon.
We will break up the cloud cover overnight Thursday and into the end of the week on Friday. We will see some sunshine as we head into the end of the week on Friday as well, overnight lows dropping into the teens Friday morning, and warming into the upper 20s to ride around 30° by Friday afternoon.
Our next wintry system moves in for the upcoming weekend. We will watch a strong low pressure system work north and east into the Ohio Valley, and this system will have plenty of moisture to work with. The latest data suggests that this system may be entirely snow for Southeastern Michigan contrary to a wintry mix we’ve been looking at the past few days. In either event, we are looking at the potential of either some snow and or ice accumulation looking ahead to the start of the weekend on Saturday. Temperatures will be critical as to what precipitation type we do see.
Once that system moves off to the east Saturday night early on Sunday morning, we will keep the chance of some lake effect snow showers into the forecast for the end of the weekend on Sunday.
A much calmer weather forecast moves to start next week for both Monday and Tuesday. We will keep cloud cover into the forecast both days, high temperatures heading for the lower 30s by Monday afternoon, before dropping into the upper 20s by Tuesday.
Another round of snow showers looks to move into the region for the middle of next week on Wednesday. Temperatures getting even colder again, high temperature is only in the middle 20s by Wednesday afternoon.
