DETROIT – Two rounds of significant winter weather are expected in Metro Detroit this week.

Midweek snow storm

Long-range data over the past couple of days shows an impactful storm hitting Metro Detroit later Wednesday into Thursday morning.

A winter storm watch is in effect from 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2025, through 7 a.m. Thursday for Oakland, Macomb, Livingston, St. Clair, Lapeer, Genesee, and Sanilac counties.

There’s still some inconsistency from the models in terms of the exact track of the storm and the type of precipitation.

It appears there will be widespread snow, with a wintry mix staying to our southeast. But there’s a chance that wintry mix could end up right overhead.

Since that winter storm is still a couple of days away, it’s hard to pinpoint exactly where it all sets up.

The 4Warn Weather team is leaning toward the precipitation being snow, but we’ll continue to provide updates as the position and track progress.

Whether it’s snowfall or a wintry mix, Metro Detroiters should plan on having impactful winter weather from Wednesday evening into Thursday morning.

A 4Warn Weather alert has been issued due to the expected impact of the storm.

More snowfall this weekend

Long-range data shows another snowstorm over the weekend, likely Saturday into Sunday.

It’s still a ways out, but it looks like this storm will bring significant snow.

Most of the snow will fall during the day Saturday, but a few snowflakes will continue into Sunday, according to the current models.

Again, these details could change over the next five days, and we will continue to provide updates.
