As you’re waking up on Saturday morning, you are noticing it is unseasonably warm outside, with temperatures into the 50s and lower 60s, and we will head into the low 70s for a daytime high by Saturday afternoon. A few rain showers will also be possible through the afternoon and the evening hours tonight.
A strong low pressure system will move through the region Sunday afternoon to Sunday evening, and this will bring the threat of strongest severe thunderstorms to the entire region. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the entire region under a Slight Risk (2 out of 5) on our severe weather scale for Sunday.
We are expecting showers and thunderstorms to develop after 2:00 PM on Sunday and last into the evening hours. All modes of severe weather will be possible, damaging winds, large hail, and heavy rainfall will be the primary threats. But I cannot rule out an isolated tornado Sunday afternoon into Sunday evening. High temperatures remaining on seasonably warm into the upper 60s by Sunday afternoon.
We will keep the chance of rain showers into the forecast changing into a few snow showers. It’s cold air moves in early next week on Monday. High temperatures into the 50s on Monday, will fall into the upper 20s overnight Monday night early on Tuesday morning.
