DETROIT – Waking up to windy and cooling conditions. We already hit our high temperatures today. In the wake of the cold front that swept through yesterday leading to strong storms in the evening, the colder air mass is now building in its wake.
Tomorrow
This is no April Fool’s Joke. Cooler temperatures stick around tomorrow as we wake up in the upper 20s with highs only in the mid-40s. Tuesday night into Wednesday could see a wintry mix or some wet snowflakes before a return of warmer air into the afternoon.
Wednesday
Active weather returns on Wednesday with a wintry mix in the morning giving way to the next round of thunderstorms by the afternoon as temperature surge into the 60s. This is all due to a warm front chased by a cold front. The potential exists for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms to impact southeast Michigan on Wednesday.
There is an Enhanced Risk (Level 3/5) of severe weather including potential for significant damaging wind along with a tornado risk. There is also a Slight Risk (Level 2/4) of flash flooding. As of right now, it looks like the potential exists from the afternoon into the overnight, but we will be fine-tuning the timeline as high resolution data comes in.
It is worth nothing that total rainfall amounts of 1-2 inches or greater will be likely from early Wednesday morning to early Thursday morning.
Late Week
We will be in the 60s Thursday with falling temperatures and a chance of rain showers. Turning partly sunny with highs in the upper 50s on Friday.
Weekend
Seasonal 50s with a chance for rain showers.
