Rounds of storms Wednesday
An active weather returns on Wednesday with a wintry mix in the morning before daybreak giving way to the next round of thunderstorms by the afternoon as temperature surge into the 60s. This is all due to a warm front chased by a cold front. A 4Warn Weather Alert has been issued for Wednesday due to the threat of storms turning severe.
Here is the timeline:
2 a.m. - 9 a.m.: A wintry mix is likely. A better chance for snow sticking north of I-69.
9 a.m. - 11 a.m.: A lull in precipitation.
11 a.m. - 5 p.m.: The potential exists for heavy rainfall due to a lifting warm front.
5 p.m. - 11 p.m.: Chances return for thunderstorms to impact southeast Michigan. There is an Enhanced Risk (Level 3/5) of severe weather for the heart of Metro Detroit. There is also a Slight Risk (Level 2/4) of flash flooding. Here are the main threats:
- Damaging Wind Gusts of 70 mph possible.
- Isolated Tornadoes possible.
- Large hail up to an inch in diameter possible.
- Flooding possible with 1-2 inches of rainfall forecasted.
Thursday
We will be in the 60s Thursday. Some early rain will give way to partly sunny skies.
Friday
